LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Reflection Questions – a cheatsheet!
Facilitation

The 4th stage of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® process is reflection. This note sets out guidance about how to use this stage effectively and offers questions you might ask when you facilitate.
The objective of reflection to make meaning from the preceding build and share stages.
Good practice
Ask ONE question at a time
Form questions that are guided by the session objective
Ask questions that try to get underneath / illuminate insight
You might guide the group through the four stages of the ORID framework, by asking one of each of the following 4 kinds of question:
1. OBJECTIVE QUESTIONS
What have we just seen? (in the presented models)
What ideas/messages stands out?
What really caught your attention? (from the presentation of the models)
What are the facts (about the presented topic) we have just seen?
What patterns/ themes are now visible to you?
2. REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS
How do you feel about the presented facts/ models?
What was exciting in what you just heard?
What made you nervous or concerned about what you just heard?
What was inspiring about what you just heard?
What new possibilities might we now see?
3. INTERPRETIVE QUESTIONS
What can we now see that we did not see before?
What is being recommended (or implied) here?
What appears to be the central issue/idea/problem being shown by this?
What key insights are beginning to emerge here?
4. DECISIONAL QUESTIONS
What decision is implied by this?
What is the step you/we now need to take?
What does this now mean?
What have you just learned?
Get out of jail free question: If you are blank, you could ask the group: “What is the reflection question we should now be asking?”
Do Not: Ask multiple reflection questions simultaneously or mix up the SHARE stage with the REFLECT stage

My year of learning with SERIOUSWORK - LEGO Serious Play (LSP).
Few months back, in May, I had a wonderful and enriching LSP Coaching training with Vics. It was a meaningful & purposeful session understanding the methodology especially how to prepare the client at the start of a coaching session...It was new knowledge for me. My takeaway was a dose of playfulness (working with our hands) could help a client unravel deeper insights into their challenges when a coach stays patient and present. Definitely glad to have this tool in my toolkit:) And I am still going through the post-training case study resources! Thanks, Vics.
I returned again last month, in July. This round it was LSP Education. The idea of moving from individual model build to shared model build fascinates me. The learning session was very rich because the group size is kept small. And collectively, we learnt a lot more. It was a wonderfully fruitful training session with Liam. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to get a sneak peek at a Taster session (In-person) in June. Now, I have a lot more ideas to look into lesson design. Preparation before class setting is key. An element of surprise at different juncture of the build keeps youths engaged. The possibility of grading the level of challenge and keeping participants alert and listening well...that is just so good! Will be sharing with my colleagues to see how we could incorporate this methodology into our work. Thanks, Liam.
My overall experience: This place believes in sharing - shared space, shared knowledge, shared ideas, shared resources. The learning does not stop after the training. So wonderful. Still learning as I am practicing!

I've attended many leadership, coaching, and facilitation programs over the years, and this was one of the few that genuinely shifted how I think about helping people learn, reflect, and make sense of complexity together.
Sean Blair is an exceptional facilitator. What struck me most was not only his deep expertise, but his discipline as a storyteller. Every story, question, and activity was intentional, helping us connect ideas, see new possibilities, and learn from one another in meaningful ways.
The program challenged me to think differently, stretched my facilitation practice, and reminded me of the power of creating space for every voice to be heard.
I'm leaving with fresh perspectives, practical skills, and renewed inspiration for my work as a facilitator and coach. Thank you, Sean and the SERIOUSWORK team, for an unforgettable learning experience!
