Advice for helping you select the best trainer for you
In recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of people offering LEGO® Serious Play® facilitation training. The quality of trainings in the market has also never been wider.
That makes it much harder for people who want to be certified to know who to train with.
The best advice if you are considering attending a certification or training course is to talk to your shortlisted candidates of trainers.
You can ask the questions you have about the different courses they offer, assess the competency and chemistry of your trainer and workout if the training course on offer is suitable for your learning style.
Questions you might consider asking
- How large is the class size? And will I get an opportunity to facilitate or will I mostly be facilitated during the class?
- Does the class cover case studies from the teachers real world practice?
- Do the teachers have experience of using all build levels, including system level workshops with their clients?
- Does the training offer post graduation community support?
- Have the trainers make meaningful contributions to the body of knowledge about the LEGO® Serious Play® method? By upgrading the method, designing new applications, and or writing multiple books?
- If you are considering an Advanced 4 day class, ask to see several case studies of the trainers client work. Ask detailed questions about the efficacy of ‘Real Time Strategy / Change’. Seek evidence, in clients words of outcomes and impact (not just trainers photos of complex looking LEGO models).
- Ask to read independent customer reviews as to what graduates of programs thought of the training, instead of what the trainers claim! Talking of which…

Advanced LEGO® Serious Play® Facilitation Training for Systems Thinking Reviews
“Superb training. The Advanced System Level course with Sean not only gave me the knowledge and confidence to design and guide my first session using Lego Serious Play Build 3 but also levelled up my facilitation skills immensely!
Before enrolling, I was pondering all the different trainer options and wondering if going for Level 3 would be worth it. I couldn’t be happier with my choice: go all in with Sean. He knows the methodology inside out, and as he has used it extensively with actual clients for years, he has curated every step of the process, making it even more powerful.
Also, the way the course is structured makes the learning even better: we not only learned from theory, we got to learn by seeing Sean facilitate, by facilitating ourselves and seeing our colleagues, by reflecting on facilitation, reviewing case studies of actual applications with clients and having detailed guidance on even what to say at each step of the process. I’m not going to lie—these are four intense days, but 100% worth it!”

“I participated in the Advanced level SERIOUSWORK LEGO® Serious Play® workshop. Sean the trainer was outstanding. He is a continuous learner and embeds this philosophy within the training. I walked away with more than knowing how to use a method for level 1, 2 and 3 builds – I also learned a lot about facilitation techniques, and group dynamics. Thank you Sean for inspiring me to be a continuous learner.”
Neil Bishop – EY. UK.
“I attended the 4 day advanced LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) Facilitation Training taught by Sean Blair. It was an excellent course. I came away with a really good understanding of how to use the methodology, how to adapt it to differing client needs, and the confidence to deliver LSP in practice.
While the course majors in LSP that’s not all you will get out of it. It integrates general facilitation skills and approaches, and – recognising that LSP isn’t always the best approach – gives you other options which could work better for the client. I’m an experienced facilitator and came away with lots of top tips and ideas to inform my facilitation practice.
As you’d expect with LSP, it’s a very hands on course with plenty of opportunities to put theory into practice. For all those reasons – whether you are an aspiring facilitator or a seasoned one – I would strongly recommend the course. Just be warned that for the advanced course it’s not all about the classroom and that you will need to set aside some time for ‘homework.’

“My Lego Serious Play journey began nearly 9 years ago, and I recently returned for the Advanced Systems Build training. I was blown away by how much the training has evolved! New techniques, refined processes, and innovative applications were evident throughout.
Sean, a true master facilitator, seamlessly blended meticulous structure with ample space for exploration and individual expression. It was a truly positive and shared learning experience – the essence of Lego Serious Play itself!”
Sean’s unwavering support throughout the years has been invaluable. He consistently encouraged me to take the leap to set up on my own, and finally, I did!
Dian Small – The Cultural Architect. UK.
“I had the privilege of learning LEGO® Serious Play® from Sean – he truly goes above and beyond as a trainer. His attention to detail is exceptional. He provides specific, actionable feedback tailored to each person, which makes the experience incredibly impactful. What stands out most is his genuine interest in your growth and development. It’s rare to find someone so passionate and invested in helping others succeed. Highly recommended for anyone looking to master LSP!”
